What are Discipleship Groups?
The goal of Christian discipleship is to glorify God, and the desired outcome is to see Christians becoming more like Jesus. Discipleship Groups (D-Groups) are one of the primary ways the people of SWBC help each other move toward Christlikeness. In eight week cycles, we look together at ways we can become more like Jesus; we ask each other questions about our hearts' willingness to change; we look at what the Bible says; and we challenge each other to take practical steps to obey God's Word. D-Groups meet throughout the week. If you have questions or would like more information about our Discipleship Groups, please contact us at info@southwestbible.org.
What do Discipleship Groups Discuss?
Discipleship Groups are designed to help us move beyond simply hearing God’s Word to actually living it out. As James 1:22 reminds us, we are called to be “doers of the word, and not hearers only.” Each week, we’ll gather around the previous Sunday’s teaching and talk honestly about how God is using His Word to shape our lives. Together, we’ll work through five questions to grow together:
- How did you respond to or live differently because of what we discussed last week?
- How did it go? What stood out to you most from Sunday’s teaching?
- Did the passage raise any questions for you, or is there anything that felt unclear?
- How do you sense God leading you to respond to this passage in the coming week?
- How can we, as a group, support or encourage you in that?
